Makeup Monday: Lashes + Volume

Wanting to add a bit of volume to your lashes, but don’t want to use a liquid, gel or pencil liner and don’t want it to be bold/dramatic?!……try using a black or dark brown eyeshadow for a soft way to boost up your look.  Follow these tips to achieve the illusion of having more volume and density to your lashes:

1)      When applying mascara to your lashes, wiggle from the root and up.  This allows the brush to deposit more product at the root of your lashes allowing them to appear very dense.  Try to apply the mascara generously and take your time.  In between each coat, allow the mascara to dry for about 30 secs.  2-3 coats of mascara should give you a good boost.

2)      For the more intense volumized look, add an eyeshadow to the top line of your lashes.  This adds the illusion of having more volume.  Using a dark brown or black eyeshadow with an angled brush, gently apply a soft line very closely to the root of your lashes (Tip: For more drama, focus heavenly on the outer part of your eye to create a semi lift cat-eye affect) If necessary, make sure to blend softly the top line of that eyeshadow you applied using your brush, a q-tip, or even using your finger.  This allows everything to look a bit more natural and not dramatic or harsh.

I hope that helps you all.  Please leave comments if any questions or suggestions.

Have a great day beauties! xo J

Mini Haul (Chanel, 24hr Color Tattoos...and more)

Hello Everyone!

I’m back....and I’m here to share with you a mini haul I’ve done recently.  The items I picked up are:
   Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation
   CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara
   Real Techniques Lash/Brow groomer
3 NEW Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation
You all know how much I love Chanel products, especially their foundations which I raved about in my previous foundation post.  Anyhow, I purchased Chanel’s newest foundation formula the Perfection Lumiere.  The formula is considered to be a long wear flawless foundation, and yes it certainly is.  I’ve already given this a try, and the foundation definitely holds up on my skin for almost the entire day, and it has the perfect coverage that I love.  I will do an in-depth review on this foundation over the next few days, please check back for that. J

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows
Sooo…these have been a huge deal in the makeup community.  I have been hearing so many great things about these new eyeshadows so I just had to pick them up.  They have been compared to MAC Paintpots, so I just had to try a few myself.  A drugstore product compared to MAC and at a cheap price, total steal!!  The colors I got are: (15) Audacious Asphalt, (35) Tough as Taupe, and (45) Bold Gold.  I plan to get a few more colors from the collection.  An in-depth review on these is forthcoming also. J

CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara
By far the best drug store mascara that I love love love.  This mascara is definitely comparable to other higher end products…and I for sure recommend picking this up whenever in a pinch.

Real Techniques Lash/Brow groomer
Every woman needs this in their makeup kit.  I unfortunately lost mine so I had to pick up a new one.  This is my first time trying this particular tool, but not my first trying this brand.  I’m a huge fan of Samantha Chapman and her brush line Real Techniques…check out my review here if you’re interested (http://www.beautylish.com/p/real-techniques-by-samantha-chapman-core-collection#pr-icguv).  My old groomer I owned was from MAC which I loved a lot because the bristles on the brush were nice and dense, but the comb was plastic so you couldn’t really comb out clumps from your lashes thoroughly if you needed too.  However, with this new Real Techniques groomer I picked up it has a metal comb, so getting in between your lashes will be perfect and precise.

That concludes my mini haul, please check back for product reviews on the Chanel foundation and the Maybelline eyeshadows that I will post over the next few days.

And last but not least, I have a small announcement I’d like to make.  Starting next Monday, I will be starting a series call “Makeup Monday”.  Every Monday, I will post something random specifically related to makeup.  This is a beauty blog so everything gets discussed, but on Monday I particularly will be dedicating that day to makeup only.  Not saying I will stop posts the other days of the week, but just on Monday’s….it will be Makeup Monday.  So definitely look out for those.

Thank you everyone for continuing to follow me along, I truly appreciate it.  Please continue as it will bring enjoyment to your day, and also don’t forget to spread the “blog name”…the more followers the merrier.  J

Have a good day beauties! xo

Happy New Year!! Best Products from 2011

Happy New Year Everyone! J

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday celebrating Christmas and New Year’s with family and friends.  It’s crazy to see how quickly 2011 came and left…and now 2012 is here already…geezz!!  Well with putting 2011 in our pasts, I do have to say, it was a great year.  I was very very productive (hence why you hardly saw any of my posts), I met new people, experienced new experiences, and discovered new finds.  And the new finds I will share with you are……my most fav beauty products for 2011. J  These products have been my everyday go-to products.  Some are products I’ve used for a very long time, and then some products are recent discoveries that I will continue to use until…whenevers.  With that said….let me get started…

Foundations:
I switch back and forth from using the Estee Lauder Double Wear light, and the Makeup Forever HD.  Both are great….love them equally.  Although I do feel MUFE gives me a slighter more dewy finish, which is fine depending on the occasion.

Eyebrows:
Hands down the best ever…..BrowZing from Benefit.  I swear I have used this thing since it ever came out on the market.  It’s so easy to brush on and seriously last all day, it has cute packaging that can easily be thrown in your makeup bag, and most of all….this sucker last forever.  At one point I swear I had the same product for almost 2 yrs.

Eyeliner:
A recent find this year, maybe about a few months back, I have discovered…..Inglot’s AMC gel liner.  This has been the best thing I have used when it comes to liner.  It lasts forever….practically all day, the product itself is so pigmented that a little definitely goes a long way, and most of all it does not dry out unlike some other gel eyeliners (i.e. Mac Blacktrack)

Mascara:
Now, when it comes to mascara I do vary between all sorts of brands I use.  I have some favorite high end mascaras and some drug store I love too.  But because we often throw out mascaras I’m always switching around trying different brands.  However, one in particular I will always love and will never forget how it coats my lashes so good is….Clinique High Impact.  This is just a beautiful gem I stumbled across.  It’s not too pricy ($14) which is right in between a drug store and high end product.  And as a bonus, I have also been loving their bottom lashes mascara too ($10).  This has been theeee best ever.  I have small bottom lashes, so using this wand is just so perfect.  And it distributes the perfect amount so you can eliminate any clumps on the bottom lashes.

Lips:
L’Oreal Infallible lip colors have been my recent favs.  Though I have only been using these for almost the past 2 months, I would say this will continue to be my favorite going into the new year.  I recently did a blog review on this product so please visit it for an in-depth review.  The lip colors are so amazing, they have almost replaced my other favs that I have loved for a while.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, I tried to cover the most popular items that often women use when wearing everyday makeup.  I do have lots of other favs of course, but these listed seem to be the ones I always reach for.  Please do comment or send a message if you have any questions and of course, share with me what are your favorites you’ve been loving the past year.  I love to hear from you all!  xo Tiffany

L'Oréal Infallible Lip Color - Product Review

I really like this lipstick. At first I was skeptical because it sounded like every “too good to be true gimmick” out there. So I pulled myself together and just gave in a bought one lipstick. It took a while to get used to at first.
As it is heavily advertised this lipstick should last 24hours…. it did not stay as thorough like it should have. But, that was my first trial run and also I didn’t have my lips prep how it says they need to be on the package. I gave it another try the second time around and I love it. This lipstick really last a very long time. And really, it’s not a real lipstick, in my mind it’s like a lip paint (in between a lip gloss and a lip stick…similar to the OCC Lip Tars www.occmakeup.com)

The way I apply this product is making sure you have nothing on your lips (I mean moisturize them for a good 10mins before applying anything to your lips to avoid dryness and then wipe off the residue so there’s not a film of anything on your lips). Then, I lightly line my entire lip with a lip liner similar to my lipstick shade, I then wait a few seconds. Next I apply the lip color and I use a very thin coat. The Infallible’s are pretty pigmented so there’s really no need to pack it on. Once the lip shade is on, seriously let that dry for a good minute or two. Kiss your hand just to be sure nothing transfers. Then finally, add the lip shine/moisturizer it comes with….and whoohoo you have beautiful lips that will last all day.

I apply mine at 7am in the morning and no joke by 8pm it’s still on. I know this product can be a bit pricy for drugstore…BUT if you find yourself a coupon from Ulta you can score a good discount, plus L’ Oreal seems to always have sales so definitely take advantage of that. AND…right now around this Christmas time at CVS they have 50% off these products….which I was able to pick up more shades. So far I own Garnet, Beyonce Red, and Diane's Tuberose .

Give it a try…it’s well worth it!

I'm back...

Top Foundations

Hey Everyone!
So I’ve been testing quite a few foundations lately to find one that best suits my preferences.  I have been an oily/combination skin person for the longest, until about a few months ago, I noticed my skin is altering….and I think it’s because of hormones changing and age…ahh!! LOL Before I was always a matte medium/full coverage foundation wearer for the longest, until my skin wants to now adjust and become a little drier.  So I went on the hunt…I needed something that gave me a little more moisture yet was still a full coverage or a least medium to full.  With that said, below I will list in order the foundation I started out with, and end with what I’m currently using now.

NARS Sheer Matte Foundation
This foundation has great coverage; the consistency was nice and silky.  I would say it’s a medium to full coverage.  The downfall I didn’t like was, I felt very oily and the foundation felt a bit heavy towards the end of the day.  I can tell I was really wearing makeup and just couldn’t wait to take it off.  I did use a setting powder and would touch up mid day, but I felt my face didn’t stay as matte as I’d like at the time.  It does have illuminating ingredients so your skin looks very refreshed and immaculate, but it still wasn’t matte it enough for me.  Also, the foundation would emulsify just a bit, so my skin tone would appear darker than what it should be.  If I went a shade down then it would be a smidget lighter (so no happy median for me). I would recommend this foundation to someone who has normal skin, maybe a tad combination; but definitely someone who doesn’t get oily as much.

NARS Pressed Powder
So after my experiment with the liquid I thought lets go back to using powder, since I still tend to be an oily basket. LOL This powder is great if you don’t require a full coverage.  It’s light to medium coverage (and buildable) and gives a slight healthy natural finish.  The powder however really emulsifies with your skin tone a lot, more than the liquid foundation in my opinion.  I actually had to switch colors and go a tone lighter from what I tested while at the counter.  Rule of thumb is to definitely wear the foundation for about 1 hour so you can determine if the color is a perfect match or it being a tad darker.  After a while I felt my skin wasn’t breathing correctly, so some areas very dry and some oily.

Makeup Forever Matte Velvet +
I really loved this foundation because it really stays matte.  The coverage is medium to full and really, I mean really mattifies your skin.  I would use this at times when I knew I needed my foundation to last all day without any touch ups.  I would set this with the HD Translucent setting powder and I was good for about an 8+ hour day.  The MUFE foundation ranges in more than 20 colors so you definitely can find your perfect match.
Chanel Mat Lumiere
After realizing my MUFE foundation did keep my skin matte, I felt it was too matte, my skin would appear dry and I needed some dewiness.  So I switched to Chanel.  I do love this foundation more than NARS and MUFE.  I would say this is a combination effect of both.  It definitely stays matte and also gives you’re the healthy illuminating glow.  I would call this my special occasion foundation because it’s just so luxurious and it just feels so good on your skin.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place
I realized I was using the Chanel foundation more than usual and not for just special occasions as I intended to. J  And because it’s a bit pricy to always refill, I was on the hunt for something similar but with a lower price tag.  So I heard to try Estee Lauder.  Great full coverage, it does last all day, and my skin wasn’t dry feeling.  But I felt over a period of time throughout the day my face was looking like it would change to maximum coverage.  So I moved on to this…
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Light
This is my holy grail thus far….finally. J  It has the same effect as the matte, but it definitely is not the full coverage I need.  You can see my natural skin through this foundation.  It really stays matte all day, yet the skin looks perfect with a healthy glow, and I don’t have to touch up hardly with any powder, it’s nice and dewy but NOT oily.
I hope this helps for any of you looking for foundations.  Remember this are my opinions on how each product reacted to my skin type.  Please ask any questions in the comments if there’s something you need to know that I didn’t cover.  Upcoming I will test some drug store foundations to see if any are comparable to the ones I mentioned above, but with better price tags of course. J  Please look out for that soon.

Have a nice day!
