Welcome Fall 2012 (Beauty Regimens and Fall Makeup)
Hi
Bellas!
I
know it’s been a while since I discussed beauty tips.….so why not start back
again as we now step into a new season. J It is now Fall and you know what that means –
change of weather for sure but most of all….change of makeup colors, products,
etc.; change in your skin care; change in your hair care; just everything
related to beauty it all will change.
A
few most important things to consider changing from the Summer days to the Fall days are:
- Face Moisturizer
- Lip Treatment
- Foundation
- Hair Treatment
- Body Moisturizer
- Makeup colors/textures
(optional)
Face Moisturizer – Since the daily temps
are beginning to cool you’ll notice a difference in your skin. It may become a bit drier, not as soft and
silky, and just in a yuck phase.
Definitely start switching your face moisturizer to something a bit more
heavy. You can start slowly by using a
face cream during the evenings as you sleep, but continue using your
normal-to-light moisturizer during the day.
This will help your skin stay nourished at night so that by the time you
wake up in the morning, your skin is at its perfection. If your skin continues to stay dry and feel
not so good, try finding a day face cream
to use throughout the entire day.
Lip Treatment – Similar to your face, you
will notice a difference in your lips being a bit more drier or chapped. Definitely you’ll need to start using a
heavier lip treatment to prevent any cracked lips or burns. Especially since the temps are cooler yet the
sun is still out shining, you may not feel your lips getting sun burned, but
they will be if you don’t protect them.
Foundation – This goes hand in hand
with how your skin is reacting. Since
your skin may be a bit drier, it may be best to pick up a foundation that has
more of a moisturizing effect. Usually
liquid or cream foundations can help solve that issue. Also try mixing your foundations, for
example; if your skin is normal/combo try applying a small mix of oil-free and
non oil-free foundation together. You
will feel a difference in the way your skin will stay moisturized. Or, use an oil-free primer and a regular type
(non oil-free) foundation. (This is what
I do personally and it works wonders) Those with dry skin, continue using the
same foundation you own, but religiously apply a heavy moisturizer on your skin
morning/night. Ladies….it’s an absolute
must that your skin is hydrated and moisturized before applying any foundation. If it’s not, you will see the product begin
to separate from your skin and that is not good! LOL
Hair Treatment – Same concept, with colder
temps in the air this can also dry your hair out slightly. Try incorporating deep conditioner treatments
at least 2x a week. Also don’t forget
heat protectant sprays….they for sure save your hair from becoming so
damaged. And lastly, don’t keep your
hair wet and in a bun. Keeping your hair
wet and then immediately going outside in the cool air can cause dryness
immediately (and maybe slight mold)
Body Moisturizer – Same concept as to your
face. Also, try using some body scrubs
to help remove any dry skin…..I would say about 2x a week or more (depending on
how dry your skin is). Following body
scrubs, you can apply body oils and body creams immediately since your skin is
nicely fresh and ready to soak up moister.
Makeup colors/textures – This is definitely
optional, but always a plus to incorporate some new fall products. A few must haves to fall wearing makeup: dark
lips, dark bronze eyes and/or matte eye shadows (lay off the uber shimmery
shadows, less is more and keep it subtle)
Welcome
Fall 2012….I for sure can’t wait to start wearing the fall outfits and of
course wearing fall makeup looks. I hope
you all are excited and ready for the new season…if that means shopping for new
fall must haves, then even better! J

Product Review: Neutrogena Shine Control Foundation
Hello Everyone!
Finally back…and I’m here to give a product review of the new Neutrogena Shine Control foundation. Now, you all know how much I love my higher end foundations. I’ve given several reviews and product fav rants on the ones I love, and also I express heavenly that if you’re going to spend $$$ on makeup your foundation should be the first and foremost product to splurge on. However, on certain an everyday basis you may not want use that higher end foundation, you’d rather leave it for the special moments and may perhaps use more an affordable product. With that said, I have found (and been testing) a dupe foundation called Neutrogena Shine Control.
This to me is very similar to the Chanel Perfection Lumiere and MakeupForever HD foundations I use often. For me, when using the Neutrogena Shine Control, my skin has almost the same finishing results compared to my fav foundations mentioned. ANNDDD….I tested this foundation while I was on vacation in Louisiana. While in the south it was the most horrified weather I had experienced in a while. LOL It was VERY VERY VERY HOT, very humid, and the weather fluctuated with being stormy but also sunny….while still HOT! LOL So with that said, this Neutrogena foundation held up on my skin pretty well. I would say you definitely need to use a primer and setting powder if you have combination to oily skin.
The foundation can be applied with your fingers or brush. I would say using a buffing brush would be best NOT a traditional foundation brush because it may leave some streaks behind. When using your fingers I notice the coverage is a bit heavier. The foundation to begin with is already a slight heavy “light” to medium coverage if that makes sense. For example, it’s not very sheer or super light at all, there’s some great coverage when applying the first application, but definitely is buildable to a medium coverage, maybe even a full coverage depending on one’s skin. The downside to this product is it doesn’t come in a wide range of colors. L The color I use is the darkest one, and for me I feel it’s just a tad shade light….just a tad. But it’s okay, because as you know it’s easier to darken up your skin with bronzer or sculpting powder if you have a lighter foundation on. But if having a darker foundation on…that’s impossible to blend and look natural.
So just to recap…
Pros:
· Foundation finish is similar to Chanel Perfection Lumiere and MakeupForever HD
· Product can be a slight heavy “light” to medium coverage
· Product lasts up to 8hrs+ and in hot weather conditions especially when using a primer and setting powder
Cons:
· Does not come in a wide range of colors
· Product comes in a glass bottle with NO pump and a thick consistency so can be difficult to extract and apply
I hope you all enjoyed this review; I would say it’s worth a try. And super affordable because you know at drugstores there’s always some sale you can take advantage of.

June Favorites
Hey Everyone!
It’s June Favsss!!
I know this is a bit tardy since it’s the 2nd week of July
already…but never late than never…right!! J Soo..for the month of June, I don’t have much
to feature. Only because some may be
redundant, so I didn’t feel a need to reintroduce everything, and of course
it’s been a whirlwind of a month so I haven’t been able to try new things and
they be considered some of my favorites.
Anyhow, lets get started…
Since it’s been hot hot hot, I’ve been loving these two
makeup products for the eyes. They
definitely hold up in hot weather conditions:
Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Liner
My favorite color is 11L. It’s a nice rich purple color that
compliments my brown eyes…and is a perfect pop of color but also a bit subtle
Maybelline Color Tattoo
My favorite shade I’ve been using is ‘bad to the
bronze’. It’s a nice rich brownish
bronze color perfect for a summery sunkissed-bronzy look. I use this as a base/primer before applying
my eyeshadow (Woodwinked from MAC…another fav color)
MAC Fix+ Spray
Although this is technically not a setting spray;
however, it acts as one on my skin. I
use in the beginning my makeup application to help refresh my skin (it’s
original purpose), and then once I’m completed with my face I use again to set
but also to take away the powdery look
I thought I’d throw in a favorite from my pro makeup kit
Ardell Lashes # 120 Demi
Love love love this pair. These lashes are the best applying on most of
my clients, I seem to grab for this style often. And my clients love these as well. They have the perfect natural wispy look, yet
there’s still a bit of drama that helps give that umph to your
lashes…especially in photos
Non Makeup Favs
SunBum Lotion
I picked this up in LA at Kitson….and I just love this smell. It’s like you’re at the beach sunbathing
soaking up the rays. So when I can’t
make it the beach or just sit out and sunbath for that matter, I just have a
sniff of my arm to get my fix. LOL
I have been in love with wedges this season. So my feet have been living in these wedges
for some time now…hahaha!! They are by Charles David,
another gem I picked up in LA a few weeks ago, and have been wearing them
almost every week. LOL!! And sooo comfortable I can run in them…okay
not sprint, but you get the idea. (I
need to get new pairs so I don’t wear these out….an excuse for another shopping
trip J)
I recently picked up this curling by Conair,
I think it’s their professional line.
Anyhow, I was in a pinch because mine broke on me while in the middle of
getting ready for an appointment, and low n behold I need to finish my other
side of hair. So I rushed out to Ulta
since that’s the closest beauty store to me, grabbed this gem and viola I have
been loving it since. It gets really hot
which is perfect so I don’t need to hold the barrel so long in my hair, I
believe it’s an 1 ½ inch barrel and it just curls amazing. It actually makes my locks look very full and
luscious
This concludes all my favs that I have been adoring for
the month of June. I promise July will
be better, because I’m going out of town again to the South, and I will be
buying new makeup products to help me survive in that viscous heat. J I’m not going to go all crazy and apply loads
of makeup, BUT…I still want to look glam but effortless. I think I plan on picking up a few BB creams
to try and a few cream blushes, maybe a new setting powder as well. Sooo look out for next months favorites for
sure….I will feature some special stuff I just know….I’ll be on shopping hunts
finding new gems to share
Anyhow…..hope you all are enjoying your summer so
far. Stay cool yet enjoy the
weather……and until the next post, have a good day!
Ciao Beauties! J xo

A Glimpse of what went on while in NYC...
Hi All,
Heyyy...I'm back from visiting the big apple, and boy let me say
was it an amazing trip! I met so many great people, I worked my butt off
for like 10-12 hrs a day, seen so many different sites. It was amazing
and I can't stop thinking about when I will be returning. J
There's definitely a lot to share from that trip, but I don't
think I'll be able to fit it all into one post. With that said, lets just
start off with a lil glimpse of me working on a model portfolio. Check
out the video below, it's a BTS of us lovely ladies at work in the streets of
NYC. Enjoy!! J xo

Father's Day Gift Ideas: Products for Men
Hello
Ladies!
For those
of you looking to buy Father’s day gifts for the men in your life, but
struggling on what to buy, get them “men cosmetics”. The men can definitely use these products in
their regimen which means you know nothing will go to waste, and plus you’re
helping with making sure they stay on point with their skin care. J Below are a few options you can
pick up, and can be purchased at drugstores or department stores.
Nivea Sensitive Shaving Gel
This can be
used on all skin types, specifically those with sensitive skin. Though you might not have such sensitive
skin, it’s still best to use this type of shaving gel because it’s less harsh,
it won’t irritate the skin, and contains Chamomile extract and Vitamin E to
help soothe the skin after each shave.
It will leave your skin looking healthy and smooth, and very moisturized. (This can be purchased at Target)
King of Shaves Gel
This is also
like the Nivea product, but slightly better.
This has contains a little more ingredients to help the skin stay less irritated,
very moisturized, and protects the skin from becoming dry. I find this brand has a lot other products
that are definitely worth checking out as well. (This can be purchased at
Target)
Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Cleanser
I say never
go too cheap on your cleanser. This is a
must to pick up! Because men skin types
can be rougher, drier or highly prone to irritation; it’s worthwhile investing
in a really good cleanser to wash away the bad stuff that just sits on your
skin. And just like women, men
definitely need to wash twice a day. (This can be purchased at Sephora)
Jack Black Energizing Scrub
I would say
this is an optional product to purchase.
But definitely should be used by those men who work in construction,
play sports, just basically stays outdoors a lot. Again because men skin types can be dry, you
would need to use a facial scrub to help get rid of dead skins cells and to
help your pores breath properly. (This can be purchased at Sephora)
Philosophy Hope in a Jar
This moisturizer
is a holly grail for a lot of people.
This moisturizer is perfect to use day and night. It’s light weight feeling, but definitely
knows how to lock in the moister leaving your skin feeling so baby soft. Because men tend to not want to use many
products that may leave their skin oily, this helps fix just that. (This can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta)
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm
This is a
MUST to purchase. Most of men’s lips
stay dry and chapped, and this helps solve that problem. It seals in moisturizer so quick leaving the
lips feel like butter after 1 hour. J
I hope that
helps you ladies get a few ideas together on what to purchase for your
men. Maybe throwing one or two of these
products in a little grab bag of miscellaneous goodies would be suffice. Trust me they’ll love it!! J
Thanks for
reading…..until the next post! Have a
good day beauties! xo
Product Review: Too Faced Candlelight Pressed Powder
This invisible
pressed powder is really not that bad, I really like it. I have to say it’s not my favorite product I
reach for all the time, but I love using it when in the mood for a glowy effect
on my face. Usually when I want my skin
to look fresh, healthy and glowing, I’ll definitely reach for this.
This
pressed powder can be used as a setting powder for your foundation, and is also
translucent. So it definitely can adjust
from the lightest to darkest skin tone.
My skin tone is about a warm tan color, and it doesn’t appear white or
like I have an ashy effect on my face.
However; if you have oily skin, I would say you absolutely need a primer
(which you should use all the time regardless) because by the end of the day
your skin will have some natural oils seeping through. Or you may use a setting spray as well.
I absolutely
love that the powder contains the gold flecks inside. This is what helps give your face looking
very glowy….giving you the “J LO Glow”. J Although because of the gold flecks, I wouldn’t
use this powder during any flash photography.
You will get tons of flash back and your face will not look so cute…if
you know what I mean! J
So just to
recap….
Pros:
Glowing and
dewy skin
Sets your
foundation
Packaging
is cute and compact – perfect to throw in your purse
Con:
Skin can appear
oilier after a period of time
Do not use
during any flash photography
Thanks for
reading…..until the next post! Have a
good day beauties! xo

May Favorites
Hi
Everyone,
I know this
is a way…way…way overdue post….but I am finally back! J
I’m here to share with you my May Favorites. I seriously can’t believe that we’re already
through half of 2012…geezz where has time gone.
Anyhoo….let me get started on what I’ve been using very frequent in the
month of May
Makeup:
A lot of my
favs have been focused on lips. I’ve
been loving a lot of the coral-ish shades.
I haven’t been too crazy about doing my eyes given it’s the
Spring/Summer season. I just wanted to
stay focused on clean fresh dewy skin and a pop of color on the lips.
MAC
Lipstick shade Morange
YSL
Lipgloss shade #2
Maybelline
Super Stay 24hr color shade Continuous Coral
As mentioned
the focus of my makeup has been on fresh dewy skin; this is what I’ve been
loving:
Neutrogena
Healthy Skin Foundation (This foundation is amazing for being from the drug
store. It seriously is almost just as
good as some of my higher brand foundations.
I love how my skin looks very natural and fresh, yet the coverage is
still great, and the price….affordable!
I’ve heard so many others in the beauty community say this is worth
buying, so I had to try myself. And I
agree….it’s so worth purchasing
Bobbi Brown
Corrector Concealer (perfect for hiding the dark circles J)
Beauty:
My favorite
scent of perfume that I’ve been wearing is Issey Miyake. There are a mix of notes that I can’t pin
point, but lets just say it’s a subtle floral scent….but in a mature way, not
the young girly stuff. I feel like a
real power woman when I wear this. LOL
I have been
trying this amazing skin product called Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth
Liberator Serum. It’s super expensive
but I got a really nice sized sample that has been lasting for a while. A little of this does go a long way. This serum has really made a difference in my
skin. It looks really healthy, glowing,
smooth, almost like baby’s skin. I love
it so much….I’m in heaven when I put this on all the time. I don’t know what
I’ll do when I run out, so I try to use it sparingly now.
Home:
I love love love candles, and the scent I have been loving is
Mandarine by Votivo. It smells so good it's like you want to eat it. LOL
This is a
really short list of favs…I know, but I honestly I haven’t been wearing too
much on my face because it’s starting to get into the warmer days. So because of that, I keep the face looking
very much less effortless. J
I promise
to get my posts back to normal schedule…I know I’ve promised before, but I will
get back into the routine. Especially
because I have excited events and opportunities coming up that I’d want to
share. A week from tomorrow I will be
headed to NYC for an opportunity of a life time. It’s Full Figured Fashion week (www.fffweek.com) so I will be there
networking while also working on many many models. So I definitely will be sharing all of the
colorful scenes I see, of course the beauty shopping, and some good eats as
well. So please stay tune for that blog
post.
Until
then…..thank you for your support in viewing my rambles, I greatly appreciate
it.
Have a nice
day beauties! J

Update (why I have been MIA)...and...April Favorites
Hi Friends!
I’M SO SORRY I have totally neglected to post something….again!! L It’s been a while since I have been blogging, and this time I have been out of the loop because of having a family emergency within my immediate family for the past 3 weeks. Everything is finally better and back to normal, so I’m ready to get back in the swing of things.
Anyhoo….I thought I’d share my April favorites. Goodness…..I can’t believe we are already in the month of May…how time flies.
So lets get started:
Makeup
· Infallible Lip Colors – I’m back to using this lip product again. Perfect for when I’m on the go, and especially when I don’t want my lip color to budge since I sometimes don’t touch up throughout the day. I have done a review on this product, please check back in my blog posts
Beauty
· MAC Turquatic perfume – Love this smell…it’s not to strong and it’s not to subtle it’s just right to wear daily. Love it!
· Oribe Hair Spray – Love the smell of this hairspray…and the hold, its just perfect. It keeps my curly in tack, but leaves my hair feeling still soft and NO stiff crunchiness
· Aveeno Nourish + Conditioner Treatment Spray – I use this all the time before my hair straightening process begins. After washing my hair, I spray the lower half of my mane with this treatment. And let me tell you….it helps with making my strands feeling so soft and nourished (as what is says it does J)
This concludes all of the products I have been loving and using religiously for the past couple of weeks. It’s not much since I’ve been dealing with personal issues within my family practically the second half of this month….so I promise next month will be interesting.
Take care beauties….talk with you soon! xo J
